I planned the shower in about two and a half months which may seem like a long time, but for me it’s not. I love putting on a party, making the decorations by hand, lots of research, planning the menu, searching for just the right items to pull the theme together. I feel it’s one thing that I’m good at.
When I first started planning I was thinking of a Fox or an Elephant theme because we knew the baby would be a boy and there is so much you can do with that. I ran it by my daughter and the response was simply “yeah”. I knew I hadn’t found the theme yet so I kept searching, and then she received a lovely gift from a friend that included a rattle from Tiffany’s. Then, like a beacon in the night the theme was born, it would be a ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ baby shower. I reminded my daughter that the baby was a boy to which she replied, “the baby shower is for me not the baby”, she had a good point. Let the planning began.
I’m very lucky to have a wonderful husband that has a background in graphic arts and is willing to accommodate all my crazy ideas. He is very handy with hammer as well as a kitchen knife. We work very well together and he is there to support me through it all.
There were about thirty five guests and two of the ladies were from out-of-town and both bridesmaids from my daughter’s wedding made the event extra special. I was so pleased that many of the guests dressed up and wore pearls.
I added a touch of Audrey Hepburn throughout the house along with a sprinkle of elegance. I hope you enjoy some of these photos from the event.
