New Year's ResolutionsDeStress Christmas
My weight loss battle always fall apart in the month of December, all of the traditional foods that I only eat at Christmas are so good and so bad. I never feel like exercising and I get so far off track, and it takes me awhile to find my way back. I was hoping this year would be different, but unfortunately it was not.

The year has just flown by and it is once again December, the most stressful month of the year. Why, I ask myself, it contains all of the things I love and enjoy like decorating, planning, cooking, parties, giving, and spending time with my family. While this all sounds wonderful, it is all compacted into just a few short weeks…

One of our traditions each year is that the Sunday before Halloween we all dress up in our costumes and have a Halloween Dinner of creepy food. This year we had mummy dogs, pumpkin poop, pumpkin vomit, bones, ghoul brains, scabs, eye balls, graveyard desserts, vampire blood, and swamp juice. It is so much fun and Sienna loved helping make the food. She really got into craving the peppers for the ghoul brains, decorating the eye balls and grave yard desserts. I was so impressed at the job she did.

Family Tradition
Halloween Heads In Jar

One of our family traditions is the girls get together and go to lunch at the end of summer and spend the afternoon together. We have always gone to Beverly’s and have never been disappointed, until this year. When we arrived at the restaurant it was not very busy, even though it was 12:30 p.m. I was thinking to myself, ‘we beat the rush, that’s great’ and then we discovered why.

One of our crazy family traditions is on the Sunday before Halloween we all dress up in our Halloween costumes and have a dinner of hotdog mummies, worms, brains, bones, pumpkin poop, and whatever else we can come up with. This may sound crazy but it is a lot of fun. It all started with our granddaughter, because she loves Halloween so much. She always says it is her favorite holiday, but who doesn’t love free candy.

Chalk Painting

Chalk paint is wonderful to use, so versatile, and I love the results of the matte finish. I was attracted to the idea of no stripping, sanding, or priming. I have taken some classes from our local stockist and have learned a few tips and tricks that I want to share. One thing that I learned is that cleaning the surface of your project is one of the most important steps. I have painted several pieces of furniture and I have found these steps to be the most important ones for superior results with Chalk Painting.

Caramel popcorn is good anytime of the year, but as the weather starts to turn to fall caramel popcorn is a must in our family. My husband is the king of popcorn and has a reputation for making the best kettle corn and caramel corn. With much persuasion he decided to share his recipe. So here is the best caramel corn and its not that hard to make. If you don’t want to make your own popcorn, pre-made popcorn will also work, but its better with fresh made popcorn.

How to Clean Glasses

I found this recipe for Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies in the Family Circle magazine years ago. I made a few changes and it quickly became a family favorite. The are soft and gooey with loads of chocolate chips. They are so good you can’t eat just one. When my mother would visit she would always request these cookies. These are the only chocolate chip cookies my daughter will make. Try them and I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Broccoli Stir Fry

I could never get my glasses clean and I found this so frustrating. The oils from my face and make-up were always on them. When I would clean them I would just smear the oils around. I bought different products but nothing really worked until I learned to make my own solution and found a few tricks that I’m going to share with you.

Broccoli stir fry is delicious, quick, healthy, and easy to make. I usually double or triple the sauce depending on how many vegetables are used. I use a mixture of vegetables depending on what I have on hand. The sauce should be prepared before you start cooking the broccoli. I serve it with brown rice or soba noodles.
